World’s TALLEST Coaster Replacement Begins Construction
World’s TALLEST coaster replacement begins construction. Construction has officially begun on the replacement for the former world’s tallest coaster – Kingda Ka at Six Flags Great Adventure!
The park confirmed the news yesterday (Thursday 17th July 2025) via their official social media sharing images confirming work has commenced.
Kingda Ka (formerly the world’s TALLEST roller coaster) – an Intamin Accelerator Coaster standing at a head spinning 456 ft was felled by controlled demolition on February 28th earlier this year to make way for a NEW ‘record breaking’ ride in it’s place.
What will replace the world’s tallest roller coaster is still yet to be revealed, but with the opening of Falcons Flight at Six Flags Qiddiya City looming ever closer, and with the new ride boasting a total height of over 600 ft, it was only a matter of time before Kingda Ka got dethroned anyway.
The introduction of Ka’s replacement comes as part of a much wider investment plan for Six Flags Great Adventure which will see a brand new area created and additional new rides added, but the question remains – what WILL replace the world’s tallest roller coaster?
The only clues we currently have lie with the new wooden markers now placed on the former ride’s site, but rumours of something even taller and faster have recentlty been making the rounds and with TT2 at Cedar Point receiving the LSM conversion treatment we have to ask, could we see something similar to TT2 in Ka’s place?
Along with the following images, Six Flags Great Adventure also shared the following over on their official Facebook page;
“Every great story begins with a single step… or in this case, a single scoop. Stay tuned. #ParkProgress#FutureInTheMaking”
Here’s a look at the official images shared by Six Flags Great Adventure confirming the beginning of the new ride’s construction.

So far Six Flags Great Adventure’s 2025 season has seen the opening of The Flash: Vertical Velocity – North America’s FIRST Vekoma Rides Super Boomerang, an upgrade of the manufacturer’s iconic family boomerang roller coaster featuring more thrilling elements and inversions.
The Flash: Vertical Velocity is also the second ride of it’s kind to open worldwide too with the first being Cloud Shuttle at Fantawild Wonderland, China back in 2023.
The park did however hint as to what we might expect from Ka’s replacement in a recent press release dated 14th November 2024 stating we can expect “an all-new record-breaking launch coaster” for the park’s 2026 season in it’s place.
One thing’s definitely for certain, we’re eager to find out what will take Kingda Ka’s place, but for now we wait in desperate anticipation for more teasers just like everyone anxious to hear the news, sooner (hopefully) rather than later.
