Titanic Sails Into Leeds Taking Visitors Back In Time!
Titanic has remerged from the icy depths of the Atlantic Ocean and has made it’s debut voyage to Leeds, West Yorkshire.
A brand new, cutting edge virtual reality experience has made it’s way to Leeds taking guests back aboard one of history’s most famous ocean liners, the Titanic.
The new VR experience has been traveling the world wowing visitors all over the globe and this August it’s made it’s way here to Yorkshire allowing us to experience Titanic: A Voyage Through Time for the very first time.
So, what is Titanic VR and what does it offer? Well, this morning (Saturday 16th August 2025) we were lucky enough to experience this immersive new experience for ourselves and as such, here’s what we found out…

What IS Titanic VR & How Does It Work?
Titanic VR is an immersive, story lead experience combining cutting edge virual reality technology and physical floor space.
The experience takes visitors on a journey beginning with a full exploration of the world famous shipwreck before heading back in time and taking you aboard the iconic vessel itself.
Guests roam together in a group of up to 5 or 6 with each headset being aware of the others in your group and uses proximity related tech through the appearance of blue avatars to ensure you don’t collide with those around you.
The whole experience lasts a total of 45 minutes from beginning to end and staff remain on hand to guide you back to where you need to be should you need it at all times.
The experience itself also combines story telling with factual history too meaning you hear from notable characters such as Bruce Ismay, Thomas Andrews and Captain Smith (all of whom were real historical figures) throughout your ‘tour’
You can even interact with the virtual environments you find yourselves in allowing you to pick up items, roam a first class cabin and sound the ship’s horn to name but a few interactive elements.

What Can I Expect From The Experience?
As mentioned previously Titanic VR Leeds lasts around 45 minutes from beginning to end. The experience itself is run on alotted time slots too so prebooking your visit is essential to avoid missing out.
On arrival you check in at the desk in the entrance with your virtual ticket then use the tablets to the left to register your arrival and input your name.
Once you’ve done this you will be allocated a ticket number (ours was K3 for instance) and will be asked to take a seat until you’re called through into the VR arena.
When called you place all belongings in the lockers provided and wait for your name to be called in order to receive your headset.
The tour begins with a short instructional safety video and following that, your experience begins.
You start your experience aboard an explorational vessel and are given a guided tour of the shipwreck by a marine explorer then following this you head back in time and board the ship itself.
The experience then takes you on a guided tour of the Titanic through the use of virtual characters and roaming space.
The story concludes with you witnessing the sinking of the ship first hand and learn more about the survivors and passengers aboard.

Is It Worth The Money?
Titanic: A Voyage Through Time officially launched in Leeds city centre inside the former Homsense unit on the Headrow this week and is set to open each week from Thursday until Sunday all the way through until the end of October.
Admission costs vary depending on how soon you book and which day you visit with admission starting at £15.00 for adults and £13.00 for children/senior citizens and ranging all the way up to £19.00 for adults and £17.00 children/senior citizens at it’s most expensive.
Bookings are also subject to availabilty too and given the experience’s popularity slots seem to be filling up pretty quickly at present, but… is it worth the cost?
Titanic VR features a very well choreographed, virtual experience and the staff on hand are fantastic at being able to help you achieve the best experience possible, but as with anything VR there are of course a few draw backs.
The first of which is that the graphics featured in the promotional material don’t seem to match those of the ones actually featured. The graphics are pretty base in some cases and resemble something more akin to PS3 quality in some cases.
The second of which is that the proximity sensors on the headset don’t appear to marry up too acurrately with the physical space around you. This sometimes lead to us thinking we had more room to manouver than we actually did resulting in minor collisions with others in our group.
That being said, the overall experience was very interesting, packed full of historical facts and unlike anything we’d ever experienced before and for that reason we loved every minute.
We do however feel that a price tag of £10.00 for children and £12.00 for adults would be slightly more reflective of what you get in return, but regardless we’d recommend experiencing it for yourself.
