Was Hyperia ACTUALLY Ready To Open?

Was Hyperia ACTUALLY Ready To Open?

Was Hyperia ACTUALLY ready to open?

There’s no denying Hyperia has been very hit & miss since Thorpe Park first opened her to the public back in May, that’s for sure.

With the park’s new ride closing to the public numerous times for ‘unforeseen’ technical issues and now yesterday due to stalling during testing, we have to ask the question – was Hyperia REALLY ready to open in the first place?

Although many seem to feel Thorpe Park RUSHED to open their new ride, Hyperia’s ongoing technical problems don’t really do much to convince people otherwise.

It’s perfectly normal for a new ride to experience downtime early on due to teething problems, but Hyperia’s ‘problems’ appear to us as though they could be far more than just that.

So, let’s start by addressing the main question on many peoples minds – is Hyperia safe to ride? OF COURSE!!

When creating any new ride or roller coaster every theme park, manufacturer & designer behind it’s creation ALWAYS puts the safety of those riding ahead of EVERYTHING else.

As as a result, Hyperia would not have been allowed to open to the public were it not say to ride.

It’s most likely that the reason for the constant downtime is more down to the fact Thorpe Park’s new roller coaster is the most complex ride of it’s kind to open worldwide yet.

Thorpe Park’s new roller coaster may well be the tallest and fastest roller coaster anywhere in the UK, but it is also the tallest and fastest ride designed by the ride’s manufacturer too.

So why all the problems? And why all of the down time? Well, yesterday’s stall was clear for everyone to see, but the other problems the ride has encountered seem to be lesser known.

Regardless of this, with everything currently happening we have to ask this – was Hyperia ACTUALLY ready to open when it did?

Well, honestly? We don’t think it was no. Most new roller coasters undergo months of testing prior to opening & Hyperia completed her testing within one month?

Things definitely felt as though they moved very fast with regards to commissioning the ride and this will most likely be due to the fact Thorpe Park wanted it open in time for the park’s 45th anniversary on May 24th.

So, given the ride’s current state should Thorpe Park close Hyperia to the public once again until they can guarantee the ride will reopen with far less chance of anything actually going wrong?

We certainly think so. Now, don’t get us wrong, there’s NO WAY we want to see this fantastic new roller coaster closed for the foreseeable, however if doing so means that when the ride eventually reopens it’s ready to operate regularly and reliably then we’d be all for it.

Although Thorpe Park offers a wide range of thrill rides there’s no denying those visiting this year will be doing so to ride Hyperia.

This means that many have booked to do so and arriving to find they can’t is something many will not want to experience.

We therefore feel that if the park want to avoid anything further going wrong closing Hyperia for the foreseeable may well be the best way to go in order to guarantee better reliability once open again.

It seems clear that both Thorpe Park and Mack Rides are still continuing to learn how to operate a ride of this scale to it’s full potential & as such and until they have, it’s expected that technical issues will become a thing of the norm in the months that follow.
