Efteling NEW 2026 Attraction Named!
Efteling have named their NEW 2026 attraction! Earlier this year it was revealed that the park would be adding some brand new family friendly free fall tower rides for 2026.
Well today (01/07/2025) Efteling have shared even more about their exciting new rides including a backstory and most importantly, name!
Hooghmoed – the newly confirmed name of the park’s latest freefall attractions is set to open next to the park’s immersively themed dive coaster Baron 1898 in time for Summer next year.

The story behind the new attractions goes as follows;
“Baron 1898 tells the story of Baron Gustave Hooghmoed, who wants to extract as much gold as possible from the mines. To do so, he enlists the help of mine workers: Efteling visitors. In the storyline of the new attraction Hooghmoed, Efteling guests become the Baron’s “chimney sweeps.”
Hooghmoed is said to be the perfect filler attraction for those not yet tall enough to meet Baron 1898’s height restriction of 1.32 metres. The new free fall towers are said to feature an hourly rider capacity of up to 600 riders per hour and will be themed to match Baron 1898’s current aesthetic.
Efteling’s new 2026 attraction also serves as an expansion on the story of Baron Gustave Hooghmoed and his insatiable appetite for gold and offers an increased ride capacity offering in an already busy area of the park.
Hooghmoed also serves to continue Efteling’s effort to fill the gap between child friendly and thrilling in an already very popular family theme park.
No exact opening date other than Summer 2026 has yet been set for Efteling’s new 2026 attraction, however it’s been confirmed that construction of Hooghmoed will begin post Summer 2025! We’ll be sure to keep you all up to date as and when further developments begin to take place.
