World’s TALLEST Roller Coaster Gets IMPLODED!
The World’s TALLEST roller coaster (aka. Kingda Ka at Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson, New Jersey) has officially been IMPLODED today.
After having believed to have suffered a series of set backs, Kingda Ka’s iconic 456 ft tall top hat element finally fell to the ground today in a controlled demolition through the use of explosives.
Kingda Ka’s implosion took place at 07:00 Eastern Time this morning (Friday 28th February 2025) as crowds of onlookers stood and watched from a safe distance documenting the historic moment.
The world record breaking coaster has been undergoing removal for around a month or so now, but today’s explosive finale marks the end of the ride’s demolition.



As well as a whole host of online influencers and theme park fans, Kingda Ka’s demolition also received national media coverage too with U.S. based news outlet FOX 5 NEWS documenting the moment from a chopper in the skies above.
The news crew captured the moment the ride fell with a host of primary explosions initially de-stabilising the ride tower’s base, then a secondary set of explosions bringing the roller coaster crashing to the ground.

Throughout the day following Kingda Ka’s demolition, fans of the ride have shared emotional memories and opinions of the ride’s fiery finale stating their disappointment at their favourite coaster leaving the park.
Others have however stated they’re glad to see it go and are eagerly anticipating what will come next for the world’s tallest roller coaster’s former footprint.
It’s believed that Six Flags plan to replace the ride with another record breaking roller coaster for 2026 – plans for which state it looks set to be a NEW multi-launched roller coaster.
“Six Flags plans to introduce a multi-record-breaking launch coaster in 2026, following the debut of The Flash: Vertical Velocity in 2025. More details are expected to be revealed in the coming months.”

Kingda Ka first opened at Six Flags Great Adventure back on May 21st, 2005 as the world’s TALLEST roller coaster, however the planned opening of Falcons Flight at Six Flags Qiddiya City later this year will see that title beaten by 184 ft as the Intamin’s new record breaking masterpiece reaches a total height of 640 ft with the aid of elevation from the park’s surrounding terrain.
As well as reaching over 450 ft, Kingda Ka also took those brave enough up to head spinning, eye watering speeds of up to 128 mph, reached a total vertical angle of 90.0° & featured Intamin’s former Hydraulic launch taking riders from 0.0 mph – 128.0 mph in just 3.5s!!
As sad as Kingda Ka’s removal is, we too as eagerly anticipating more news surrounding what will replace this iconic roller coaster, but for now, guests can look forward to experience North America’s FIRST Vekoma Super Boomerang with Flash: Terminal Velocity later this year!
