World’s TALLEST Roller Ball Opens In Switzerland

World’s TALLEST Roller Ball Opens In Switzerland!

The world’s TALLEST Roller Ball coaster has just opened at an amusement park in Switzerland and it looks absolutely fantastic!

Antares – the latest new thrill ride to open at Conny Land in Switzerland is the tallest RES Rides Roller Ball coatser to open at any theme park or amusement park worldwide so far.

The attraction itself has been designed with Conny Land’s limited available space in mind with the whole ride featuring a very compact and well utilised footprint.

The story behind Antares is that of a crashed UFO and a primative civilisation’s worship of the crashed other worldly being as a god or daity.

Antares – Conny land’s latest new thrill ride is the tallest ride of it’s kind to open at any theme park worldwide to date!

Speaking about Antares’ design, Roby Gasser – CEO of Conny Land stated;

“Antares was the perfect ride to not use up too much ground and then we came up with the idea to have the bumper car below and the ride on top of that which then in the end we don’t use too much space.”

The whole structure sits with the ride’s station building directly in front and hoists riders up a vertical lift before sending them gliding backwards and forwards, free spinning as they do so on their descent back down to the station building below.

The track itself is mounted to the tower structure front facing outward allowing the car to glide along the track with the gondola itself on a boom arm attached directly to the chasis.

To date, there are currently FIVE Roller Ball coasters operating worldwide with others in such countries as Austria and France to name but a couple.

Speaking further about the ride’s authentic theming, Roberto Torres – head of the park’s creative team stated;

“We tried to create this ride with special attention being paid to the theming work which is entirely constructed from concrete meaning it’s much more authentic to it’s look and not fake.

You can even give it a knock and you’ll be able to tell it’s solid and not hollow which helps compliment the attraction on the whole”

Theming is definitely something most European theme parks seem to have got down to an art and Conny Land in Switzerland is certainly no exception!

Antares features a unique design meaning riders are suspended on the outside of the ride structure as they descend and spin backwards and forwards on their way back down towards the ground.

To mark the official opening of Antares, Conny Land invited Swiss Coaster Club members to be among the first to experience the new ride.

Talking about this Oscar Elgarrista – Project Manager for RES Rides said;

“For RES the opening of Antares is a huge event and together with the Swiss Coaster Club we are making the perfect partnership. We love to explain the technical details and this ride has so many technical curiousities, leisure engineering details. If you turn 90 degrees on every corner, it’s a feeling you don’t have on other rides.”

Antares is definitely a unique attraction and one we’re sure will definitely have global appeal for thrill seekers looking out for the next big, unique thrill.

Acknowledging the privilage offered to them members of the Swiss Coaster Club stated it was an honour to be given the chance to be the first to ride. The also stated the ride felt both smooth and exciting at the same time.
