Alton Towers Resort & What To Expect In 2024!
Alton Towers Resort is set to welcome guests back this March for another thrilliant season of fun, thrills and laughter at the UK’s most magical escape.
From the return of a much loved classic dark ride (we’re talking about HEX of course) to some returning, fan favourite seasonal events, character meet & greets and even the launch of BRAND NEW VIP packages, Alton Towers Resort is certainly stepping things up a gear where bringing the magic back is concerned,
In the following article we’ll cover EVERYTHING you need to know about what to expect when visiting the park this year and will take a closer look at what each new and returning addition has to offer.
Alton Towers Resort is officially set to welcome visitors back from March 16th, so you really don’t have too much longer to wait.
10 Years Of Cbeebies Land.
2024 is set to mark 10 years since the resort’s much loved family IP land- Cbeebies Land first opened it’s colourful gates to the public.
The popular BBC based area features rides and attractions all centered around popular Cbeebies characters and TV shows and has continued wow younger guests since it first opened in 2014.
In 2024 Alton Towers Resort are set to mark the occasion in style by introducing brand new additions which are said to be announced in the coming weeks.
Alongside this children and families visiting the resort will continue to have the chance to get up close and personal with some of their favourite CBeebies characters such as Duggee, the Teletubbies and more.
Families also have the chance to check out last year’s three new attractions – Hey Duggee Big Adventure Badge, Andy’s Adventures Dinosaur Dig, and JoJo & Gran Gran At Home.
Fan Favourite Events Return For 2024!
Alongside 10 years of Cbeebies Land 2024 is also set to welcome back an action packed line up of fan favourite seasonal events.
From the foot stomping, stein swigging festivities of Oktoberfest to the spooktacular, spine chilling frights and thrills of Scarefest Alton Towers Resort is set to bring the fun in a full range of different forms this year.
Oktoberfest (7th – 29th September), Scarefest (11th October – 3rd November), Fireworks (8th – 10th November) and Christmas (selected dates from 22nd November – 31st December) have all been confirmed to be returning for the resort’s upcoming season, however Mardi Gras appears to have been dropped from this year’s line up (not really a bad thing in our opinion).
Fireworks also return this year too lighting up the night skies in a dazzling display of colourful bangs, flashes and whizzes.
Alongside Christmas is set to return for 2024 too, however given Alton Towers’ poor offering in 2023 we are hoping to see the introduction of a much bigger and better offering this year.
Alongside events Alton Towers Resort have also announced the introduction of brand new street theatre at the resort too.
Character Meet & Greets.
Throughout this season families and younger guests will have the chance to get up close and personal with some of their favourite Alton Towers characters including the iconic Alton Bear!
From pop up appearances across the park to newly introduced street theatre with The Pirates of Mutiny Bay families visiting the park will be able to join in with the fun and make their own thrilliant memories.
New for 2024 guests staying overnight at The Alton Towers Hotel and The Splash Landings Hotel will even have the chance to experience character appearances whilst chowing down on some much needed breakfast!
Overall, 2024 will offer those visiting Alton Towers Resort even more chances than ever before to meet their favourite resort icons in a whole host of different settings throughout the year.

HEX is BACK For 2024!
Yes, we know, we’ve already covered this in a separate article however we couldn’t put together a ‘what to expect from Alton Towers Resort in 2024’ article without mentioning the return of HEX!
After over 12 months of closure due to what we believe to be technical issues the resort’s iconic Vekoma madhouse is set to return this year (from opening day we believe?).
Alongside HEX, 2024 is also set to see the return of another iconic ride with Nemesis Reborn (aka. Nemesis), however to date no exact opening date has yet been set.
As well as HEX and Nemesis there’s no denying we also hope to see Alton Towers Resort’s Sky Ride return too, but no official announcement has yet been made whether or not this is something we can expect to see from opening.
Overall, 2024 marks the start of the long road back to the resort’s former magic and with the removal of The Retrosquad (yayy!!) and the impending arrival of new, permanent additions in the not too distant future it’s fair to say that the park is steering itself back in the right direction from here on.
Alton After Dark (NEW For 2024).
First up in the list of NEW for 2024 additions to Alton Towers is Alton After Dark – something fans of the park have been clamoring for for quite some time.
Alton After Dark is set to offer guests the chance to experience the park’s iconic rides and attractions after nightfall for the first time outside of the normal extended event opening hours.
The new addition kicks off on Saturday March 16th during the first THREE weekends of the park’s season by giving guests the chance to ride the park’s rides and roller coasters up until 8PM in the evening.
Dates to enjoy Alton After Dark are current set at Saturday 16th, 23rd and 30th March, however we hope to see more dates introduced as the season progresses and the darker nights set in later in the year.
Rides such as Wicker Man, Oblivion, Th13teen and The Smiler are all absolute MUSTS after nightfall believe us!
Track Walks Are HERE!
NEW For 2024 Alton Towers Resort are giving fans of the park the chance to conquer TWO of their fan favourite rides with unique experiences offering the chance to walk the track of Oblivion and Wicker Man.
These new experiences come at an additional upcharge and don’t offer discounted prices for pass holders.
They do however offer fans of the rides the chance to walk the track after park close, take in some rather unique views and even bag themselves a complimentary fast track for their chosen ride.
Also included within the price is Express Parking meaning those who chose to experience a track walk won’t have a mile of so to walk back to their cars after doing so.
Track walks are priced individually at £80.00 per person for Oblivion & £65.00 per person for Wicker Man and are available to experience on select dates throughout Alton Towers Resort’s 2024 season (mainly weekdays).
Alton Towers new behind the scenes experiences also offer access to ride areas not usually accessible to the public.
Become A VIP For The Day!
Last but not least Alton Towers Resort are offering those who want to bring a touch of magic to their day the chance to become an Alton Towers VIP!
These fantastic new experiences do however come at a premium but given what they include we have to say they sound VERY tempting.
Offering everything from ride fast tracks, meal vouchers, limited edition merchandise and your very own VIP hosts Alton Towers’ new VIP experiences really do ramp up the fun and add a touch of sparkle to your visit throughout the day.
VIP experiences come in two different forms – the Gold VIP package priced at £265 per person, per day & the Platinum VIP package priced at £340 per person, per day.
The brand new packages also include theme park entry, express parking, unlimited digital photos, a freestyle vessel and personal welcome letter to name but a few perks.
The only difference between the gold and platinum packages however are the included fast track option and the VIP host (only included as part of the platinum package).

What Else Will 2024 Bring?
So, that’s EVERYTHING we know so far about what we can expect from Alton Towers Resort’s 2024 season, but what else could we expect this year?
Well, as mentioned previously Nemesis is also set to reopen at some point this Spring and as such the ride will mark 30 years with the park this year.
It’s safe to say Alton Towers will certainly have something up their sleeves where marking the occasion is concerned and when you look back at the marketing of the ride’s rebirth so far it’s safe to say we can probably expect celebrations to be substantial.
As mentioned previously though no date for the ride’s reopening has yet been set, but we definitely expect it to be sooner rather than later given current progress and rumours the park are aiming for opening day.
