Yorkshire Scare Grounds 2023 – A Complete Guide!

Yorkshire Scare Grounds 2023 - What Can You Expect?!

Yorkshire Scare Grounds 2023 is coming to Hell Lane just outside Wakefield this Halloween season and it looks set to be bigger & better than ever before.

The annual Halloween scare attraction takes place throughout October each year and officially invites those daring enough to “FACE THEIR FEARS” with a mixture of terrifying haunted houses and scarezones.

The scream park features a full array of indoor and outdoor attractions and guests experience them all one after the other.

This usually culminates in a chainsaw finale which (for those who have already exited the pen) is great fun to watch.

Yorkshire Scare Grounds also features a full array of catering options, a photo opportunity with Fear 2 Photo and Jack’s Bar – an undercover bar offering a full range of alcoholic beverages to help calm your nerves post run through.

This year, Yorkshire Scare Grounds has undergone a bit of a face lift and as such, so have the attractions.

Yorkshire Scare Grounds 2023 is set to feature 3 scarezones and 4 scaremazes (or scare houses as the attraction calls them).

These are as follows (in no particular order)……………

Carnival Of Carnage - Scare Zone.

Carnival Of Carnage intensifies & transforms the former Forest of Freaks: Showman’s Rest scarezone into something entirely more sinister and nail biting.

Judging by Yorkshire Scare Grounds description of this new addition (and the way they have marketed it), it’s clear we can definitely expect a lot more clowns from this circus themed walk through.

June 22, 1920, the Rellik Brothers Circus was cut down in transit to their next show location.

The members and the circus itself strewn across the tracks and reduced to splinters after a fatal clashing of trains…and since then their story has been reduced to nothing more than hearsay and whispers; locals referring to the crash site as ‘The Carnival of Carnage’. But these performers do anything but rest.

Twisted and mangled corpses have begun to reanimate with the taste for human flesh! Or so they say, the locals made a game of it to test the legend and venture into those woods as a test of nerve. Yet none have returned…Dare you disturb the Carnival of Carnage?”

Carnival of Carnage is the first of two new circus themed horror experiences coming to Yorkshire Scare Grounds 2023 this Halloween.

The Pack - Scare Zone.

The Pack is a brand new werewolf themed scare zone.

Whilst it’s not entirely clear where abouts we expect this new scare zone to fit into the experience we can only imagine it must be either where Dead Central was or The voodoo themed scare attraction was last year.

Yorkshire Scare Grounds have described The Pack as follows;

The forest is usually a testament to the glory of nature, and for many, at night it brings a peaceful serenity. But for others…they can’t help but wonder what lies within the darkness…watching them.

A disembodied growl. A distant howl. The crunching of the forest floor with seemingly no one there. A beastly presence. Creatures of the night have always been the thing of myth and folk lore.

But are they myth? Or are the Lycan’s of old fable real..? And are they watching from beyond the trees?”

The Pack carries real Wolf Man and Dog Soldiers vibes and in truth, it’s quite rare you see a scare attraction attempt the werewolf genre, therefore we’re very excited to find out more about what this fantastic sounding new experience will offer.

#IDT Interdimensional Terror - Scare House.

#IDT Interdimensional Terror is the first of this year’s four scare houses (scaremazes).

This sci-fi horror themed scare experience will presumably take the space of Factory of Fear and will carry a much more sci-fi focus with regards to the overall storyline.

We particularly love the inventive nature and ingenuity this attraction has adapted during it’s design and conceptual development;

It was to be an incredible scientific feat! To reach through the fabric of time and space itself, and not only see into other dimensions, but also step through into them!

Just imagine the possibilities! The great unveiling was to be a triumph, a true testament to Dr. Klein’s years of work and research. Then…they tore through.

What was supposed to be a grand unveiling became a massacre, and all the Doctor could do is watch on in horror as his colleagues are torn apart in front of him. Their blood and guts painted across the walls…these..

THINGS seem to want nothing more than to slaughter. The pure savagery…the chaos.. its enough to make any man snap…but he may be the only one who can fix this.

Dare you enter to find him..?”

Interdimensional Terror should (if we’re correct) be the first scare house you experience throughout your experience of Yorkshire Scare Grounds 2023.

Whitechapel Vampires - Scare House.

Whitechapel Vampires puts a vampire spin on the traditional horror story of slaughter in London.

The new addition will presumably sit within the site’s ‘village’ area and will no doubt utilise the surrounding buildings and hidden spaces to deliver some blood soaked jumps and scares.

Yorkshire Scare Grounds have described the story behind Whitechapel Vampires as follows;

The streets of London seem to never be free from slaughter.

The tightly packed buildings and clouds of smog are a breeding ground for the depraved. There’s been rumblings of beasts mixing in with the people.. wearing the facade of the human visage.

They gain your trust. They deceive you. Then…you’re left in a pool of your own blood, reduced to nothing more than a newspaper headline.

They’re numbers are legion. These killers hidden as men and women hide beneath the nose of the law…leaving a bloodstained trail behind them.

Vampirism truly is a scourge on these streets. So for those planning on taking a journey to Whitechapel, take your crucifix and a mirror. You never know who to trust…”

Whitechapel Vampires makes up the second of this year’s four scare houses and puts a great new spin on the area it’s set to be located.

Clown Clinic - Scare House

Clown Clinic is the third of this year’s four scare houses and puts an wacky spin on the classic haunted asylum attraction.

The new circus themed scare house is also set to be the second of this year’s two new circus themed experiences.

Upon revealing Clown Clinic on their social media, Yorkshire Scare Grounds described the story behind it as follows;

Blackthorn Asylum has always been a site of rehabilitation and correction, and since its been overtaken by its new management, that standard is still upheld.

When a clown begins to develop a horrible case of sanity…they will soon find themselves admitted to this facility to correct it and make sure they stay permanently broken.

Electro-shock therapy.. lobotomies.. maggot therapy and healthy dosages of pain ensure these crazies remain a prime example of depravity.

Why…you seem awfully sane yourself. How about we fix that?”

Clown Clinic will presumably take the place of last year’s dentist themed scare house and will make a fantastically freaky new addition to this year’s line up!!

The Harvest: Keepers of the Corn - Scare Zone

The Harvest: The Keepers of the Corn is the last of this year’s three scare zones and feels very Children of the Corn in nature.

You definitely can’t beat the classic outback American horror theme, however will it work in the middle of a forest?

The Harvest: Keepers of the Corn will more than likely replace last year’s outdoor scare maze and will go as follows;

The corn fields have always been a thing of great mystery…the storks stretch high and can provide a shield for a myriad of sinister forces.

They are barren places…lived in only by the corn, and watched by the overseers…the scarecrows. But what do you do when they begin to move? Or worse yet, when they begin to attack..?

Abandoning the fields and roaming the forest, just be careful what’s lurking in the shadows, as the Keepers of the Corn are on the lookout for their next prey!”

This is definitely one we’re particularly keen to experience and can’t wait to see how this plays out for those experiencing it at Yorkshire Scare Grounds 2023.

Krampus - Scare House

Krampus is the last of this year’s four NEW scare houses and puts a festive twist of the proceedings this Halloween.

The new festively themed scare house is reportedly set to take the place of last year’s ‘giant doll house'(aptly named Doll House).

The story of Krampus is a very underrated (and under utilised one) here on British shores, therefore it will be interesting to see how Yorkshire Scare Grounds adapt this for a Halloween Offering;

Certa…Perchten….Black Peter…There’s many names he’s been christened with over years.

The tales of his cruelty spread world wide, transcending all boundaries of culture and seemingly even generation.

For as long as time itself they have spoke whispers of his seasonal torment…his beatings…his punishments!

His legion of tainted elves follow his every command, corrupted to his will, and eager to bring his new subjects to torment – or as he calls it – correct.

Krampus sees you when you’re sleeping..he knows when you’re awake…so have you been naughty or nice this year?”

Krampus will make a great (and very different) new addition to Yorkshire Scare Grounds 2023 and will prove interesting when it comes to fitting in with a standard Halloween offering.
