The Retrosquad Are FINALLY Leaving Alton Towers For Good!
The Retrosqaud – a group of three temporary funfair flat rides located at Alton Towers Resort in Staffordshire have been confirmed to be departing for good this November.
Guests to the resort will have up until November 5th to enjoy their final rides on these classic funfair flats before The Retrosquad jet back off to Planet Retrograde permanently.
The news of their imminent departure was announced by Alton Towers themselves across their social media this week with a new animation released confirming they had been ‘recalled’.
As much as this news is absolutely fantastic (and it really is), the main question now on everyone’s minds is this – what will replace them?
In a recent Q&A session at this year’s Scaremazing event hosted by TowersTimes & Attraction Source at Alton Towers, Bianca Sammut – the resort’s recently appointed new Divisional Director confirmed that permanent new flat rides are definitely coming to the resort in the not too distant future.
She did however fail to specify an exact timeline for the new additions, but given the fact The Retrosquad are now leaving the park, could we see a new addition as early as next year?
Given the new lease of life coming to both Nemesis and Forbidden Valley for 2024 it seems highly probable we could well see Funk ‘N’ Fly replaced for next season in line with Nemesis’ reopening.
Other new additions in X-Sector however could more than likely come at a later date as well could any new additions to the bottom end of Dark Forest where Roller Disco once stood.
All in all, the news of The Retrosquad’s imminent departure reaffirms the fact that Alton Towers continue to take guest feedback onboard & recognise the need for their removal in favour of future progress.
We look forward to finding out more about what we can expect from the resort’s upcoming new permanent flat rides in the years ahead – who knows? Maybe we could even see Ripsaw’s Revenge?…
