Hailed as “Asia’s most vibrant city”, Hong Kong is said to play host to some pretty significant must visit locations for adults and children alike.
Destinations such as Hong Kong Disneyland and Ocean Park Hong Kong already play huge draws for families visiting the Chinese city, but other attractions accessible to families are also available for exploring too, and they’re not to be missed.

Okay, so let’s begin with perhaps the most well known (and loved) of all – Hong Kong Disneyland.

From character meet-and-greets to captivating parades, Hong Kong Disneyland promises a sprinkle of pixie dust for every member of the family.
Ocean Park Hong Kong
Next up we have Ocean Park Hong Kong – a vibrant family theme park combining rides and roller coasters with an aquarium to create the ultimate “underwater adventure”!
Home to thrilling rides, educational animal exhibits and stunning ocean views, this marine wonderland is both entertaining and informative for little ones.
This summer, Ocean Park is introducing several new family experiences, including an inflatable obstacle racecourse as well as live performances throughout the park featuring unicycle stunts and aerial acrobatics.
Water World Ocean Park Hong Kong
Water World Ocean Park Hong Kong is Asia’s FIRST all year round waterfront water park & is said to be the perfect day out for families this summer.
The water park features FIVE unique zones as well as 27 attractions located within both indoor and outdoor settings.
Water World Ocean Park is also located where the mountains meet the South China Sea just minutes away from the center of Hong Kong itself.
Families can also ‘make a splash’ on nine state-of-the-art water slides or refuel at one of the park’s many food and beverage outlets serving up a wide choice of international flavours, including Kebab’s, BBQ and local delicacies.
Hong Kong Science Museum
Fancy something a little more educational and informative for your younger ones this Summer instead? Why not pay a visit to the Hong Kong Science Museum?
This interactive wonderland in the Tsim Sha Tsui East neighbourhood boasts over 500 exhibits spanning a vast array of scientific disciplines, from the wonders of the human body to the mysteries of space exploration.
Budding scientists of all ages can experiment with fascinating hands-on displays, unraveling the secrets of the natural world through play.
Throughout the summer, the Hong Kong Science Museum holds dedicated children’s programs which include educational workshops and science-themed arts and crafts.
West Kowloon Cultural District
In keeping with the theme of something a little different let’s take a closer look at the West Kowloon Cultural District…
Nestled on the Victoria Harbour waterfront, the West Kowloon Cultural District is a vibrant playground for families seeking a fun and enriching day out.
For a journey into history and culture, the Hong Kong Palace Museum is a perfect starting point, bringing treasures from the Palace Museum in Beijing alongside historic exhibitions from around the world.
Next door, M+ ignites imaginations with its focus on contemporary visual culture. One of the newest exhibitions, ‘I. M. Pei: Life Is Architecture’ which will run until January 2025, is the first full-scale retrospective of Leoh Ming Pei (1917–2019).
In addition to its interactive exhibits, M+ has a dedicated Learning Hub which little ones will love, and a rooftop garden with spectacular views of Victoria Harbour and Hong Kong Island.
Big Buddha
Big Buddha is exactly what it says on the tin – a 34 meter tall Buddha statue located on Hong Kong’s Lantau Island.
This gigantic monument is accessible via the Nong Ping 360 Cable Car or alternatively, if you’re feeling a little more adventurous (and incredibly fit at the same time) a 256 step climb.
The Big Buddha is part of the Po Lin Monastery which was founded in 1906. Families interested in learning about Buddhism history & culture can explore the grounds.
Further afield, Lantau Island offers a number of activities for families to enjoy, such as hiking, beaches and finish the day with a visit to the Tai O, a traditional Fishing Village on the far western side of Lantau Island.
