HUGE Fire Breaks Out At Liseberg's NEW Oceana Water Park In Sweden!
A HUGE blaze has broken out on the construction site of the NEW Oceana Water Park at Swedish amusement park Liseberg today (12/02/2024).
The fire is thought to have originated in one of the park’s external water attractions before spreading into the rest of the site.
First reports of the blaze came in at around 2:30 am this morning after those in the surrounding area are said to have heard several loud bangs coming from within the construction site.
Announcing the news via their official social channels emergency services said;
“There has been an extensive spread in the construction. It is total damage and we are working to try to limit it down to the house and that it does not spread to nearby buildings, says Marcus Friberg at the rescue service’s press service.”
Guests staying at the Grand Curiosa Hotel as well as those in nearby office spaces are said to have been evacuated and fire crews are currently tackling the blaze.
Once the fire has been been brought under control and has been extinguished a full investigation will begin to find the exact cause of the fire.
Police are also currently working to divert traffic and those traveling on foot within the area too stating;
“Do not visit the place at all. Preferably don’t pass either. This is for your own safety but also so that the Rescue Service can work undisturbed on site, says August Brandt, press spokesperson for Police Region West.”
This is said to be for passers by’s personal safety due to the main materials on fire being plastic which can cause toxic fumes.
Oceana Water Park was planned to open later this year, however sadly today’s incident will more than likely delay the opening of the new attraction considerably.
