Europa Park Reopen Ghost Castle Following A HUGE Re-imagining!
Europa Park have officially reopened Geisterschloss (Ghost Castle) after completely re-imagining the ride as Castello Dei Medici!
The iconic haunted dark ride closed earlier this year for a complete re-imagining after guests complained the ride was feeling dated and mismatched.
Castello Dei Medici presents a terrifying new spin on the classic ride and brings Europa Park’s iconic haunted house ride into the 21st century!
Ghost Castle first opened to the public in 1982 and used the highly popular “endless ride system” to create a haunted house experience inspired by Disney’s famous Haunted Mansion ride.
Castello Dei Medici is however far more story driven and brings a completely different spin to the ride as a whole.

Castello Dei Medici tells the tale of Lorenzo De’ Medici – a historical figure seeking revenge on the traitorous Pazzi family through the use of an ancient stone tablet.
The relic is said to promise eternal life to any who follow it’s instructions and as such those brave enough to enter the mansion are taken on a journey through Lorenzo’s life as he dedicates himself to learning it’s teachings.
The whole ride is said to last around four minutes in total and completely new scenes, each as terrifying and haunting as the next.
Earlier this week Europa Park uploaded a short 5 minute film announcing the attraction’s reopening to their streaming service and days later, the ride officially reopened to the public with a grand reopening ceremony.
Castello Dei Medici is located within Europa Park’s Italian themed area and features as one of the most eerie and chilling ride additions to date.
We can’t wait to experience this brand new take on Geisterschloss when we headout to Europa Park later this season and as such we’ll be sure to bring you plenty of coverage and our full thoughts as soon as we have ridden it here on TPI!
