Efteling Make MAJOR Changes Park Wide For 2025!

Efteling are making MAJOR changes to one of their most iconic rides for 2025, and that’s only just the tip of the sheer amount of changes coming to the beloved Netherlands based theme park for this year.

In an official update yesterday (24/02/2025) Efteling announced they are currently undertaking major works inside the park’s one of a kind water ride – De Vliegende Hollander (The Flying Dutchman).

The ride first opened at the park 2007 and has undergone a lot of changes since first opening, however this latest change introduces a whole new scene never before seen on the ride similar to the last major new addition of the shipwreck graveyard in 2023.

Those of you familiar with The Flying Dutchman will be aware of a rather iconic little scene following the first drop inside the ride’s show building, however after many attempts to maintain this over the years the decision has been made to remove it in favour of a much more immersive, scary new one in it’s place.

De Vliegende Hollander is set to undergo a small transformation in time for it’s reopening with a brand new scene set to replace the one featured after the ride’s first drop.

De Vliegende Hollander’s fiery new scene will see riders drop into the heart of a blazing ship’s hull. The new scene is said to represent the cursed soul of the ship’s captain Captain Willem van der Decken.

The ride is currently believed to be on schedule to reopen in time for Easter 2025 on April 18th and has undergone other subtle improvements during it’s annual maintenance too improving the rider experience overall.

Alongside this, The Efteldingen store located next to the park’s main entrance is also currently undergoing a major transformation too.

The newly reimagined store is currently one month into it’s projected three month refurbishment and once complete will feature a fairytale book theme featuring iconic, beloved Efteling fairytale characters at it’s heart.

These changes and improvements are also set to be accompanied by the opening of the park’s NEW headline hotel – The Efteling Grand Hotel this coming summer which will see the former park entrance transformed and renamed becoming the “Island of the Five Senses”.

The transformation will come complete with open, beautifully landscaped areas in and around both the hotel and entrance plaza inside the park.

The Efteldingen – Efteling’s signature, circular merchandise store at the entrance is currently a third of a the way through a three month transformation and will reopen to guests with a brand new, fairytale look soon!

Over the past few years Efteling has continued to adapt and evolve introducing new and exciting rides and attractions for guests to enjoy including the opening of the eerie new, first of it’s kind dark ride in 2024 – Danse Macabre and the introduction of the newly reimagined Aquanura Show late last year too.

The upcoming changes and improvements will not only improve guests experience on the whole but will introduce new and exciting experiences for guests of all ages to enjoy.
