Alton Towers Resort have today shared an exclusive peek behind the curtain at their brand new 2021 attraction Gangsta Granny: The Ride!
This groundbreaking new attraction is set to make up the headline attraction of the resort’s brand new area for 2021 The World of David Walliams.
Although this exciting new addition should have opened it doors to visitors back in 2020, that sadly never came to be and fans are now more eager than ever to get their first official glimpse of this brilliant new ride.
Gangsta Granny: The Ride fully immerses riders into the world of Granny and Ben as they go on the heist of a lifetime to steal the crown jewels and utilises brand new techniques to fully capture the hearts of their audience and make them feel part of the action.
Techniques include immersive story telling through the use of projection mapping, themed scent, screens and physical set pieces as well as brand new techniques yet to be announced.
Gangsta Granny: The Ride marks the resort’s third major dark ride addition with Hex: The Legend of the Towers and Duel: The Haunted House Strikes Back being the resort’s only two operational dark rides to date.
It has been revealed that the stories creator, legendary British TV actor and screenwriter David Walliams (mainly known his many roles in the legendary British TV series Little Britain) has been actively involved throughout the ride’s full conception and build ensuring the experience is as authentic to his original material as possible.

Due to the current estimated timeline for indoor dining and attractions to reopen we don’t anticipate the ride will open much before May 17th, however the rest of the resort does plan to open it’s gates to the public once more as of April 12th inline with current government advice.
We do however wonder if Alton Towers may well open the rest of the new area prior to this date, however as of yet no official opening date for their brand new area has yet been announced.
