Yorkshire’s Top 5 Attractions To Visit This Summer!
These are Yorkshire’s Top 5 attractions you NEED to visit this Summer! When it comes to enjoying a great family day out here in the UK there’s nowhere better than God’s own county, am I right?
Well, when it comes to keeping your little ones entertained this Summer here in Yorkshire there are quite a few different options, and yes of course there is Flamingo Land Resort, the seaside and even (if you’re aged 7 and under) Lightwater Valley, but there are also a good few other options available too, if you know where to look.
In my latest article I’m bringing you my Top 5 Yorkshire based attractions you won’t want to miss out on visiting this summer holidays.
So, where to start? Well, let’s start with….
The Puzzling World of Professor Kettlestring
The Puzzling World of Professor Kettlestring is a mind bending, head spinning new family attraction based in the heart of York city centre.
It offers guests of all ages the chance to get hands on creating their very own, head scratching illusions with a range of different interactive attractions and elements which will have the whole family involved.
From serving up your family members on a silver platter to dangling from the ceiling and growing to gigantic sizes this unique, well themed family attraction will have you laughing and thoroughly confused all at the same time.
Where can you find the Puzzling World of Professor Kettlestring? This fantastically fun little attraction is located on the corner of Merchantgate at 14 Merchants Place, YO1 9TU.

The Forbidden Corner
The Forbidden Corner is an absolute MUST for any family looking to lose themselves in a great adventure this summer.
Hailed as being “the strangest place in the world” The Forbidden Corner located at Tupgill Park Estate, Middleham has to be seen to be believed.
Featuring a seemingly never ending labyrinth of tunnels and passage ways above and below ground, The Forbidden Corner will have you (literally) ‘going around in circles’ with every sight and sound more bewildering than the next.
From beautiful gardens to hidden folleys this unique and creative family attraction isn’t just one to visit this summer, it’s also one for the bucket list too.

York Dungeon
When it comes to keeping the little ones and older ones entertained this Summer, laughing and screaming your way through York’s darkest attraction is a must.
The York Dungeon features a theatrical, immersive actor lead experience taking guests back in time as they discover some of the cities darkest moments from it’s 2000 year history.
From comiung face to face with the infamous Yorkshire highwayman Dick Turpin to seeking refuge inside one of York’s most haunted properties the York Dungeon delivers a show-stopping experience perfect for those who want an element of thrill adding to their day.
While the aim is of course to deliver the chills, this classic York based attraction also delivers plenty of laughs and light hearted moments along the way too making it perfect for any aged 5 and over.
York Dungeon has also just launched a brand new show for it’s summer season too named Body Snatchers and is included as standard with general admission all the way through until August 31st.

Jorvik Viking Centre
This next Yorkshire based attraction will have you traveling back in time to when Vikings first settled here in the UK.
JORVIK Viking Centre located on Coppergate within the Coppergate shopping centre area and is one you will NEED to prebook prior to visiting.
Although the JORVIK Viking Centre does offer walk up admission the attraction itself is highly popular due to it’s unique offering and central location meaning most days will be booked up this Summer.
The attraction itself brings to life the history of Viking York through a combination of museum galleries and an interactive, suspended dark ride traveling through an authentically immersive recreation of the city’s Viking age streets.
This is certainly one to check out with the family this Summer holidays, or at anytime of the year for that matter as The Jorvik Viking Centre is open to the public all year round.

York Maze
Last, but certainly not least we have York Maze! This fantastic family attraction loctaed just off Elvington Lane on the outskirts of York is so much more than just a maze!
York Maze offers a mix of fun, family friendly rides and attractions all centred around their a-maize-ing location featuring some truly ‘corny’ puns and references to say the least.
From getting soaked on Crow Mania – the pantomime on wheels to exploring ancient egyptian tombs in search of golden corn cobs and traversing a giant Toy Story themed corn maze, York Maze brings together something for everyone in the corniest way possible.
The attraction’s live entertainment is worth the visit alone too as Josh and his amazingh team offer a full range of different shows and performances throughout the day including a foam party finale (which is absolutely incredible to say the least).
York Maze is yet again another family friendly attraction you won’t want to miss out on visiting this summer!
