Alton Towers Resort set to reopen their heritage gardens to the general public from June 06th!

Alton Towers Reach new landmark in COVID-19 Lock Down easing as they announce the plan to reopen their spacious heritage gardens to the general public from Saturday 6th of June 2020!

Today (02/06/2020) saw a move by the UK’s most well loved theme park resort that would be set to have enthusiasts and the general public alike grinning from ear to as the park officially announced via their social media channels that they would be officially reopening their spacious heritage gardens to the general public once more from Saturday 6th of June 2020!

This move by the well loved Derbyshire theme park resort came as updated government outlines regarding the easing of restrictions surrounding our current lock down stated that all gardens and outdoor public spaces would now be permitted to reopen once more to the general public, providing social distancing and full preventative measures were adhered to at all times.

It’s safe to say that this announcement has had everyone within the theme park and enthusiast community beaming from ear to ear like the cat who ate all the cream, so much so that following the announcement the demand for tickets to the park was so great that it caused the official Alton Towers’ website to go down preventing people from making a purchase.

The rest of the resort however including it’s full line up of rides and associated attractions are set to remain closed for the foreseeable future meaning that guests making the visit will only be able to access the gardens and not the areas containing rides and attractions (as far as we’re aware).

In an official statement from the park we were informed the following measures are to be expected by all those who choose to make a visit once the resort’s gardens officially reopen;

  • Restricted number of guests, so everyone is being asked to book online in advance
  • Temperature checks on arrival at the Resort
  • Updated signage and social distancing markers on the Admissions plaza and other places around the Resort where people tend to gather
  • Sales of food and drinks will be limited to ‘grab and go’ items including hot and cold drinks, snacks and ice creams
  • All rides and other attractions remain closed in line with Government advice

Guests are asked to visit our website for a full list of the hygiene and safety measures we’ve introduced which can be found by clicking the official link at the bottom of this article to the park’s official website.

Please be advised that should you be planning to make the visit pre-booking tickets is an absolute must as no ‘on the gate’ admissions will be permitted and this is due to the reduced capacity Alton Towers are planning to operate on.

Merlin Pass or Park Season Pass holders will still be free, however we have been advised that a nominal booking fee of £1.00 per person will apply and this we feel is just given the fact that it should help to promote those who book the tickets making their visit on the day unless exceptional circumstances arise.

Other visitors however will be required to pay the following;

Adults – £12.00 per person

Children aged 3 – 11 -£5.00 per person

Under 3s will go free

All on resort parking however will be free and therefore the normal parking will be waved.

Opening times have been stated to be 10am – 4pm with the last admissions being allowed into the park no later than 2pm.

It has also been advised that the park welcome guests to bring their own picnics on the day, however the use of barbecues and the consumption of alcohol will be strictly prohibited.

Finally we have also been informed that a small selection of food and beverage outlets are planned to be open during this period, however these will be strictly on a take away basis only and no indoor dining will therefore be possible.

Overall we very much welcome this move by the resort and like everyone else we look forward to being able to make the visit ourselves after this coming Staurday!
