Top Thrill 2 Has FINALLY Been Unveiled By CEDAR POINT!
Top Thrill 2 has officially been unveiled by Cedar Point this morning putting to bed all rumours and speculation surrounding the rebirth of the Ohio based amusement park’s iconic 2003 Intamin Accelerator roller coaster.
The newly re-imagined strata coaster (set to be the first ride of it’s kind worldwide) will open to the public next year after a full re-imagining by Cedar Point and Zamperla.
A recent leak seeming to confirm the new ride’s stats took place this Sunday, and after this morning’s announcement it’s been confirmed that all previously leaked stats are true and accurate of what thrill seekers can expect.
Top Thrill 2 WILL reach speeds of up to 120 mph, will climb a 420 ft reverse spike and will feature THREE supercharged LSM launches – each set to be faster and more intense than the next.
The exciting new roller coaster will also feature Zamperla’s newly designed lightning trains and will feature a high speed switch track aimed at improving ride operational efficiency.
In an official blog post Cedar Point also confirmed that Top Thrill 2 will bring new life to Top Thrill Dragster in a far safer and much more energy efficient way.
Alongside unveiling Top Thrill 2, Antonio Zamperla, president and CEO of Zamperla said;
“My sincere congratulations to Cedar Point on the announcement of this incredible project. Today, with pride and excitement, we embark on this collaborative journey together,”
“It is an honor for Zamperla to add our signature on The Roller Coaster Capital of the World®. I cannot wait until next year when we see this record-breaking scream machine come to life.”
Also speaking about today’s announcement, Carrie Boldman, vice president and general manager of Cedar Point said;
“Top Thrill 2 will be the boldest and most advanced roller coaster Cedar Point has ever introduced. It’s another one-of-a-kind that could only be built at Cedar Point,”
“Our stamp on the industry is in roller coaster innovation, and today, that’s solidified as we redefine the strata coaster into a mega-thrill that our guests will come from far and wide to experience.”
Overall, today’s announcement puts to bed all speculation surrounding Top Thrill Dragster’s rebirth and gets fans of the ride excited for Top Thrill 2 – Cedar Point’s newest exhilarating roller coaster experience coming in 2024!
