Epic Universe Confirmed On Track For A 2025 Opening!

Epic Universe - Universal Orlando's Highly Anticipated Third Gate Has Been Confirmed As "right on track" For A 2025 Opening!

Epic UniverseUniversal Orlando Resort’s highly anticipated upcoming third gate has today been confirmed as “right on track” for it’s targeted 2025 opening.

In an official interview NBCUniversal CEO Jeff Shell confirmed “We’re right on track, literally right on track. We expect to open it in 2025.”

The current rate of construction on the new park does seem to support this as more and more progress appears to be made on a daily basis.

Jeff Shell’s confirmation came during UBS Global TMT Conference this Monday (December 5th).

Talking further about the current progress, Jeff advised “I was down there a couple of weeks ago and everything’s coming out of the ground, so all the infrastructure is in, a lot of the steel is in, and now it’s just a question of building [it] out.”

The new park is set to be located close to the Orange County Convention Center which Shell advised would be “sort of an interesting experiment for us”

Sharing insight into why this was so important, Shell advised that “The park is built so that you can come into one land, and not the whole park, and are we going to get nighttime convention business which is a kind of an interesting experiment for us.”

When the new park was announced a good few years ago now, Epic Universe was originally marketed as opening in 2023, however construction was paused in Spring 2020 as a result of the covid pandemic.

Works did however resume in March of 2021 and as such progress has continued to materialise at very steady rate ever since.

Upon opening in 2025, Epic Universe will be Universal’s LARGEST U.S. park boasting a whole host of exciting new themed rides and attractions, brand new onsite accommodation & so much more!

Some of the new attractions set to feature within the new park include the highly anticipated arrival of Super Nintendo World in Orlando, brand new Dreamworks & Illumination studios themed IP attractions and more.

The park is also set to feature a brand new land centered around Universal’s Classic Monster Universe within which there is said to be an exciting new roller coaster.

When previously teasing Universal’s new park, Shell advised it would be “anchored by a lot of our strong IP, including some of the Illumination and DreamWorks content, but especially Nintendo” and the confirmation of the above certainly supports that.

Universal Hollywood have also recently confirmed the arrival of Super Nintendo World at the resort for their 2023 season including it’s star attraction – Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge.

The headline attraction has been hailed as one of the most complex rides to be developed within the entertainment industry in quite some time.

We can’t wait to watch Universal’s Epic Universe come to fruition in the years ahead & as such we will do everything within our power to be there when the new park finally opens in 2025!
