This coming Friday 11th of September Alton Towers Resort is set to launch it’s highly anticipated Oktoberfest event which will see guests enjoying everything this universally loved Bavarian tradition has to offer whilst still getting to ride some of the UK’s most loved rides and attractions into the very twilight of their laughter and fun filled day!
In keeping with the fantastic tradition this Bavarian festival commands Alton Towers have also announced that a whole range of tasty German treats will be made available for purchase throughout the festivities as well.
These include but aren’t limited to; giant marshmallows, traditional smoked bratwursts, currywusts served in a pretzel bun, lebkuchen biscuits and traditional Belgian chocolates.
The resort have also teamed up with the guys over at Spaten Beer to bring a festively German Helles Premium Lager to the resort as well which will be made available for purchase throughout the full duration of the festival!
To give you an idea of what you can expect when taking a sip here’s an official description provided by Alton Towers themselves;
“Brewed in Munich and known for its light, crisp taste and golden colour, it offers a full rounded body of malty sweetness, balanced by delicate hop flavours and aromas. A small selection of traditional English beers will also be served.”
And it’s not just the food and drink which will be set to bring a smile to the faces of adults and children alike during this festive spectacular!
Alton Towers Resort will also be playing host to two live outdoor stages offering a full line up of live musicians throughout the evening including the absolutely fantastic foot stomping German Jukebox, and this is also set to be accompanied by traditional bavarian street performers and even a traditional Alpine Horn player to boot!
So, where is this all set to take place we hear you ask?!
As of 15:00 every day from September 11th to October 4th the extremely spacious front lawns will be transformed into a bavarian wonderland and as such entry to this fantastic event will actually be included in the price of your day ticket meaning that entry to this brilliant event will come at no extra cost.
As well as enjoying all of this however you will also have the chance to enjoy the park’s rides and attractions well into the evening (8PM on weekends) which means that there should be a more than adequate amount of time to bag yourself some of those much loved night rides on some of the UK’s most loved world class coasters!
Oktoberfest is set to be the first ever event of it’s kind to be hosted at the resort in it’s 40 years of operation and as such has been launched to mark the resort’s 40th anniversary in style.
So, how is all of this possible?
Well, it’s safe to say that in preparing to launch this fantastic event the resort will have likely faced some of it’s toughest challenges yet.
This is due to the sheer scale of the event and the whole host of different food and drinks options they will be set to offer (most of which don’t currently exist onsite as the are not really what you’d expect from an average day at a park).
Just to give you an idea of the scale of demand this event commands Alton Towers will be set to bring in the following at the very least to the resort during the duration of the planned festivities;
150,000 traditional german bratwurst sausages, 3000 gallons of ice cream, over a quarter of a million traditional Belgian chocolates and over 200,000 giant marshmallows!!
As well as all of this the park have also be working tirelessly to ensure that Oktoberfest is as safe as possible meaning that all performers will stay at least 3 meters away from guests at all times and other safety measures including social distancing will more than likely vigilantly policed at all times throughout the full duration of the event too.
Oktobefest however is infact an entirely outdoor event and as such this means that despite the stringent restrictions that currently lie in place the resort will still be able to push ahead as planned.
So whilst you breathe in the sights and sounds of this autumnal bavarian tradition why not take a moment to step back from your day and marvel at just how unique this fantastic event really is as you cosy up next to one of many fire pits with your family and friends beer in one hand and hot dog in the other?
It’s safe to say that Oktoberfest really has become one of the resort’s most highly anticipated events of the year and as such it’s fair to say that come this Friday Alton Towers will be transformed into world of Bavarian treats and delights one can only dream up in their wildest dreams!
We are planning to make a visit this coming Sunday the 13th of September and as such we will be sure to bring you plenty of LIVE updates as well as a full detailed review both during and post visit as well.
