The Curse Of Alton Manor Revealed By Alton Towers Resort!
The Curse Of Alton Manor has officially been confirmed as the NEW name for Alton Towers‘ re-imagined Duel ride.
After closing Duel: The Haunted House Strikes Back to public in September of last year, Alton Towers have remained very quiet on what the ride’s future will look like and what form the newly imagined attraction will take.
On Monday January 23rd however, all of that changed and The Curse At Alton Manor was finally revealed to be the new identity of the park’s classic haunted dark ride.
“The Curse at Alton Manor. A haunting dark ride, taking you on a hair-raising journey through the spectacular twists and turns of the cursed Manor.
Coming, ready or not! The abandoned Alton Manor, repossessed under mysterious circumstances, will be inviting you inside. Have your wits about you as you ride deeper into the historic Manor.”
Along with the reveal of the attraction’s new name came some eerie new concept art showcasing the front of the attraction, some of the horrors that lie in wait and exactly who it is that “wants to play”!
The press release also reveals that the creative team behind the attraction have employed the use of new and “unimaginable” ways to scare their audience.
In a recent interview with a local news outlet it was also revealed that the team have favoured the use of more traditional techniques, some of which reportedly date right back to the Victorian era.
It is however stated that some of the ways they intend to create their scares have yet to be seen in any UK theme park to date.
“creators of The Curse at Alton Manor are said to have found new and unimaginable ways to scare and surprise fans, with special effects and visuals that have never been seen before from a UK theme park.”
This definitely sounds extremely promising and as such we’re sure you’re as eager as we are to find out exactly what these new techniques are for yourself.
It has been advised however that the resort are keeping the manor’s sinister past under wraps for now but plan on revealing more information on what to expect throughout next month (February).
Speaking about The Curse At Alton Manor, Alton Towers’ Head of Product Excellence Kate McBirnie has said;
“Let the countdown begin! The Curse at Alton Manor is no ordinary dark ride. It has all the components of a supernatural tale – it’s dark, compelling and promises some thrilling and scary moments along the way. Fans of eerie rides will certainly appreciate this one.”
In a recent interview one of the resort’s iconic creatives John Wardley confirms that the new attraction will draw much closer in comparison to that of the original Haunted House.
This of course means that the dreaded laser guns will be no more and if you’re like us we’re sure this will come as a massive relief!
The Curse At Alton Manor is currently estimated to open this Spring, however no official opening date for the new attraction has yet been announced.
It is however believed that Alton Towers would like to open their new ride in line with the rest of the park’s attractions on their opening day (March 18th 2023).
As fantastic as this would be, we remain hopeful this will be possible and look forward to hearing more on when the park’s new ride will open in the coming months.
