Luna Springs Meltdown: Victors Revenge – My thoughts!

This weekend I (Elise) was able to visit Luna Springs in Birmingham to try out their very own scare maze, Meltdown: Victors Revenge. This year’s instalment is a sequel to last years’ experience and follows on from the Atom Facility’s meltdown and continues the story of Victor Isotope and his corrupted company. I was not able to visit in 2023, so this was my very first experience of the attraction.
As always, spoilers ahead!

Entering the venue, we had our tickets scanned and were given our maze ticket as well as a free drink token (Alcoholic & non-alcoholic options available). It was a nice and easy process as was the queue for the maze itself. At the time we arrived, we had a short wait after a photo was taken (for an upcharge sale later) before we were allowed inside the attraction. Our first instruction was an odd choice – turn around and face the wall.
We stood facing a wall for what felt like a while before we had our first interactions with a character who was seemingly inspecting us and interacting before taking us into the briefing room. During this time, we received all the standard warnings including not to touch the actors (who would most definitely touch you). Following the briefing, we began our tour of the Goretech Atom Facility.

Without going into too many spoilers, this attraction was a mix of walkthrough and staged scenes where characters would truly immerse you in the story. This was great however found sometimes that our group wasn’t sure where they were supposed to stop or where they were meant to keep moving due to the staged scenes. The scenes were incredibly well themed from top to bottom with gritty long hallways, effects and details big and small. The themed environment was then heightened by incredible performances from the actors inside who played a variety of different roles in the company and really made an impact.

I mentioned before that the actors could touch you – they definitely did. There was plenty of contact during the experience which was all safe and enjoyable. Each piece of contact we experienced worked for the characters and scenes. Everything felt thought out in the experience from start to finish – we really were part of a story.

It all came together to build up to a finale scene where we met Victor himself. This scene was in one of the larger rooms of the maze and used a selection of effects to bring the story to a climax and lead into the final chase where we found ourselves making an escape from the facility. This was a pretty fun scene however I couldn’t help but feel the finale in the room with Victor did feel a little bit rushed. I would have liked this to be longer as it is our first (and only) interaction with the illusive man.

Finishing our experience, we found ourselves at a paid photo section where we could purchase photos taken during our experience (at an upcharge) before returning to the bar area where performers could be found along with shock chairs, scare box, food and the Freakshow (Which we unfortunately missed during our visit)

Overall, this attraction is incredibly immersive. Its full of details and effectively uses the small space that it is set up in. We really felt like we were inside an Atom Facility. The cast were on top form with a range of interesting characters and some great scares along the way.  I really liked the use of contact in the experience to make you feel a part of the story. I would highly recommend this attraction and hope to see it make a return in 2025 too.

Our tickets cost £18  (excluding fees) and included maze access, Freakshow and a free drink. To purchase tickets and find out more please see the website:
